In a Roundabout Way: East Main Street Construction to Begin on Kent Campus

Orange barrels will soon appear on a three-quarter-mile stretch of Ohio Route 59/East Main Street that runs through 91²Ö¿â’s Front Campus, marking the start of a three-year construction project to make the thoroughfare safer and more attractive.

91²Ö¿â will be closed July 4 to observe Independence Day. No classes are scheduled on the holiday, and university offices are closed. The university will resume normal operations on July 7.

The 91²Ö¿â Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools – the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering – within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the Kent Campus.
