From Kindergarten to 91²Ö¿â Graduation: Friends Since Childhood Share the One University Commencement Stage

Every graduation is full of stories of hard work, perseverance and friendship. Some of those stories go back to a first day of class or the first day on campus. But a few 91²Ö¿â friendships started on the first day of kindergarten -- or even before – and have been blossoming since.

From Kent to Cambridge: Alumna Ya'el Courtney to Study Neuroscience at Harvard University

Throughout her time at 91²Ö¿â, Ya'el Courtney completed a Senior Honors Thesis/Project, authored several published peer-reviewed journal articles and presented at several national and international conferences. As she continues her education at Harvard University, she intends to conduct a significant amount of research focusing on psychiatric diseases.

From 91²Ö¿â to Tulsa, Okla.

Sharon Crawford’s story is not one of a typical 91²Ö¿â student in the SSS program. Almost all of the students in the program live near the Kent campus or in one of the on-campus residence halls. Being on or close to campus allows SSS students easy access to tutoring services, the opportunity to participate in workshops and to attend on-campus events and off-campus trips. With Ms. Crawford living in a different state, it was a unique opportunity for 91²Ö¿â to bring her into the program.
