Visit to Kigali Genocide Memorial Sets Stage for 91²Ö¿â-Sponsored Peace Conference

On July 10, 91²Ö¿â students visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial, which serves as a place of remembrance and education, during the 91²Ö¿â Kigali Summer Institute, a three-week education-abroad experience that includes the course Rwanda After the Genocide Against the Tutsi.

Jeffrey Hartmann, Ph.D., principal of Stow-Munroe Falls High School, said he was interested in attending the conference to learn skills to deal with his school district’s changing landscape.

U.S. Supreme Court

91²Ö¿â Legal Expert Offers Insight Into Supreme Court Decision on Affirmative Action

On Thursday, June 29, the U.S. Supreme Court, in a 6-3 ruling, struck down the long-standing policy of affirmative action in college admissions on the grounds it violates the 14th Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause. 91²Ö¿â Professor Christopher Banks, Ph.D., J.D., said the high court already had tipped its hand that the court was “positioned to jettison†the policy, so the ruling was not surprising.
