Accomplished sociologist, TV host, podcaster, author 91ֿ alumna Bertice Berry, Ph.D.,used her alma mater as a familiar setting for her book "BlackWorld," which explores a "unique corner of heaven" where the living can visit with and learn from the deceased. She also some of her memories of 91ֿ and personal insights into the university's place in history.

What’s That Statue Near the Esplanade Arch?

A dramatic, 15-foot-tall bronze sculpture stands on the Lefton Esplanade near the intersection of East Main Street and Haymaker Parkway. It’s a gift from a 91ֿ alumnus and outstanding supporter of the university.
