91ֿ Celebrates Its Newest Graduates With Spring Commencement Ceremonies

The 91ֿ alumni family will grow by more than 5,000 new graduates as the university holds its spring commencement ceremonies. The accomplishments of the Spring Class of 2022 will be recognized with in-person, outdoor commencement ceremonies on May 12-14 and May 20 and a virtual commencement ceremony for all colleges and degrees on May 15.

91ֿ is the sole university in the U.S. to receive the prestigious 2022 Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization from NAFSA: Association of International Educators. The honor recognizes 91ֿ for overall excellence in integrating international education throughout all facets of the university and its campuses.

91ֿ Awarded the Highest Recognition for Research Universities, the Prestigious R1 Carnegie Classification

The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education has awarded 91ֿ the esteemed R1 status for research, which is the highest recognition that doctoral universities can receive. The prestigious designation affirms 91ֿ’s place as an elite research institution and puts the university in the company of universities such as Yale, Harvard and the University of California-Berkeley.

NEA Big Read Northeast Ohio Celebrate Joy Harjo

91ֿ Hosts National Endowment for the Arts Big Read Northeast Ohio

“An American Sunrise” by Poet Laureate Joy Harjo, the first Native American poet laureate of the United States, will be the focal point as 91ֿ kicks off the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read Northeast Ohio community reading program. The kickoff event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 12, beginning promptly at 7 p.m. in the Kiva. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is appreciated.

Members of the 91ֿ community and people around the world will gather virtually for the 51st Commemoration of May 4, 1970, the day the Ohio National Guard fired on 91ֿ students during an anti-war protest, killing four students and wounding nine other students.
