Seasons in Motion Movement Challenge

Sunday, September 6, 2026 - Saturday, August 14, 2027

Get ready to move, compete and have fun all year long with the Seasons in Motion Movement Challenge!  This 3-part challenge keeps your movement momentum going through the whole year, with a new challenge each season (semester) and an overall championship at the end.

Inspired by 91²Ö¿â's Exercise is Medicine on Campus (EIM-OC0 initiative, this challenge is built on a simple idea:  Movement Is Medicine.  Regular physical activity can improve physical health, reduce stress, boost mood, increase energy, and support overall well-being.  The good news?  Movement doesn't have to happen in a gym to make a difference.

Participate as an individual and/or form a team with friends, classmates or coworkers.  Students and faculty/staff will compete in separate divisions, giving everyone a chance to earn points, climb the leaderboard, and celebrate their progress.

The best part of this challenge?  There's no "right" way to move.  Walk to class or walk the dog, hit the gym, mow the lawn, ride your bike, dance, shovel snow, garden, take the stairs or explore the outdoors...because every minute of movement counts.

Whether you're looking to improve your health, relieve stress, connect with others, or simply move more throughout your day, the Seasons in Motion Movement Challenge encourages you to find the activities you enjoy and make movement part of your daily routine. After all, when movement is medicine, every step, stretch, and active moment is a step toward a healthier, happier you.

 

Fall Challenge:  The Great Fall Move

September 6 - December 12, 2026

Fall registration deadline:  September 20, 2026

A new semester is the perfect time to get moving!  Whether you're walking across campus, taking the stairs, attending a fitness class, playing a sport, gardening, dancing, or simply finding more ways to stay active throughout your day, every movement counts. The Fall Challenge is all about building momentum, creating healthy routines, and discovering fun ways to move that fit your lifestyle.

 

Winter & Spring Challenge:  Spring Into Movement

January 31 - May 8, 2027

Spring registration deadline:  February 14, 2027

Keep your momentum going through the colder months and into the spring season! Whether you're shoveling snow, walking to class, taking active breaks between meetings, participating in fitness classes, playing recreational sports, or simply choosing the stairs more often, every movement counts. As the weather warms up, take advantage of opportunities to get outside…walk or bike across campus, tackle spring cleaning projects, explore local trails, work in the garden, or enjoy outdoor activities with friends, classmates, and coworkers.

This challenge is all about staying active in ways that fit your lifestyle, no matter the season. From everyday tasks and campus activities to workouts and outdoor adventures, every step, stretch, lift, and active moment helps you earn points while building healthy habits that last throughout the year. 

 

Summer Challenge:  Summer on the Move

May 16 - August 14, 2027

Summer registration deadline:  May 30, 2027

Keep the momentum going wherever summer takes you. Whether you're taking classes, working on campus, traveling, enjoying family time, swimming, hiking, mowing the lawn, paddling on the water, or simply getting outside for a walk, every move matters.  Stay connected to the challenge, keep earning points, and finish the year feeling strong and accomplished.

 

Seasons in Motion Championship

September 6, 2026 - August 14, 2027

Each seasonal challenge offers opportunities to earn recognition, prizes, and bragging rights, but the ultimate goal is to celebrate movement in all its forms. From everyday activities and household chores to workouts, sports, and outdoor adventures, every active minute counts. Participants who stay engaged throughout all three seasons will compete for the overall Seasons in Motion Championship, proving that movement can happen anywhere, anytime, and at any fitness level.

 

Cost

  • $10/person per semester challenge OR 
  • $25 for all three semesters
    • Registration includes Seasons in Motion t-shirt

How to Participate 

Step 1
Register for each semester challenge you'd like to participate in.

Step 2
Move, groove, and stay active in any way that suits you! Walking the dog, shoveling snow, riding a bike, walking! Time for each movement is converted into points.  For example, jogging =156 points/minute, shoveling snow = 133 points/minute.  For the complete list of activities to points conversion chart, click link below. 

If you reach 200,000 points, you will get a Seasons in Motion special reward (to be announced)!

Step 3
Submit every activity that you would like to count towards your team’s movement total using the link below.  (It's best to submit your activities daily or weekly so you don't miss anything!)

KSU Team Competition 

Want some teammates to join you in your FitWell journey?  Teams can consist of 3 -5  members. Each team member's points will be added to overall team total.  Then we will calculate an average points per person for each team.
