The Wick Weekly workshops are in full swing on the 91²Ö¿â Campus. Jo Dowell, Ph.D., RN, CRNP, PNP, FNP-BC, CFNE, assistant professor and research faculty at 91²Ö¿â College of Nursing, has focused her nursing research on better understanding the health disparities of low-income, minority children who suffer from a chronic illness. The Portage Area Regional Transportation Authority (PARTA) will introduce SPOT PARTA, its real-time GPS transit information capability, to the 91²Ö¿â community on Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Kiva. Sam Olson is beginning her final year in the Veterinary Technology program at 91²Ö¿â at Trumbull. In doing so, she has decided to make her final fall semester a memorable one. After seeing four one-week-old kittens that were dropped off at the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, she decided to put her acquired skills into action. Olson completed paperwork to become a foster parent to the four kittens. She is essentially trying to nurse the kittens to adoption age, which means around-the-clock care. Taste of Home Winner

91²Ö¿â’s Dining Services recently hosted its annual Taste of Home competition and announced the winning dish: a turkey chili recipe submitted by Debbie McKinney, a 91²Ö¿â parent. The Taste of Home competition encourages students’ family members to submit recipes of their student’s favorite home-cooked meals for the chance to have it served on campus. 91²Ö¿â’s College of Education, Health and Human Services will honor seven distinguished alumni at the seventh Annual Education, Health and Human Services Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony on Friday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the 91²Ö¿â Hotel and Conference Center.
