Before sophomore Honors College student Jesse Thompson came to 91²Ö¿â in 2022 from Cincinnati, Ohio, he often watched HGTV with his father– a handy man around the house who was often building things. With that influence, Jesse decided to major in construction management. He chose to complete his required internship last summer and had the opportunity to work for Meyers Brothers & Sons, a contractor in Millville, Ohio. While “Adopt a Disability for a Day†wasn’t featured in this October’s Disability Awareness Month event lineup, it was offered at the first “Understanding Disability and Physical Difference Month†celebrated on campus in November of 1971. Students, faculty, and staff were “encouraged to adopt a physical disability of blindness or being in a wheelchair†(Challenge Newsletter November 1972).
