COSMIC Kickoff (Chemistry and Biochemistry)
- Prior to the start of the Fall semester, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry hosts an event aimed at educating all incoming students of the many aspects the Department has to offer. Attendees also have the opportunity to meet and familiarize themselves with our faculty, staff, and student organizations, who will assist in answering any questions or concerns regarding the upcoming academic semester. We also offer opportunities to learn about undergraduate research, internships, medical school pathways, and other career pathways in science. The Department has surprises in store for all attending this event, involving fire, explosions, and so much more!

KSU Kickoff Check-In (Residential Students)
- This event is required for all first-year students living in the residence halls.
- This is your opportunity to learn about the KSU Kickoff schedule and meet with a Peer Success Mentor (PSM) to get your questions answered.
- Students should attend this event based on their personal availability between the hours 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. 
- Check-in times  are not assigned. Attendance  however will be recorded upon student arrival.
- For only first-year, 91²Ö¿â students living on-campus, in a residence hall.
- Commuting students will be required to attend a different check-in session on Aug. 21, 8 - 9 a.m. (more details can be found in the app and KSU Kickoff website).
- First-year to 91²Ö¿â transfer students will be required to instead attend the Transfer Student Welcome on Aug. 23, 3 - 5 p.m. (more details can be found in the app).
Kisses From Home
- Love, encouragement, and a little bit of chocolate—what could be sweeter?
- Families are invited to take a moment to connect in a fun and meaningful way during the KSU Kickoff Residential Student Check-In on Thursday, August 20 from 3 - 8 p.m.
- Stop by to write a heartfelt postcard to your college student, whether it’s filled with words of encouragement, a favorite memory, or just a simple “we’re thinking of you.†We’ll save your message and have your student stop by later in the semester to pick it up, right when they could use a little extra love from home.
- While you’re crafting your note, enjoy some sweet treats and soak in the joy of creating a surprise that’s sure to brighten your student’s day. Because sometimes, the smallest gestures, paired with a little chocolate, make the biggest impact.
- This event will take place from 3 - 8 p.m. in room 220 of the Kent Student Center (Pepsi Leadership Center).
Fall in a Flash
- Still have last-minute business to take care of before classes start? After you check in for KSU Kickoff (as a residential student on Aug. 20), just come to the Kent Student Center Dining Room (room 218) to get help.
- Several offices will be available to assist you with questions related to your scholarships, student loans, billing payment information, class registration/advising, military-connected benefits, student accessibility services, and transfer of credits, etc.
- This event will take place from 3 - 5 p.m. in room 218 of the Kent Student Center.
College of Honors and Global Education Welcome
- Make sure to stop by as the College of Honors and Global Education welcomes the newest members of the college!
- All new Honors College and international students are invited to enjoy ice cream, activities, prizes, and opportunities to meet fellow students and staff.
- The event will also feature words of welcome from college leadership and a group photo at 6:30 p.m.
- This event will take place from 4 - 7 p.m. outside of Stopher and Johnson Halls.
Bingo With FAB!
- This is the largest bingo event of the year. The event will be limited to the first 1,000 students (no RSVPs).
- Prizes for winners after each round. Prizes in the past have included a Nintendo Switch, an iPad, and Squishmallows!
- This event is free and open for all to attend!
- This event will take place from 8 – 9:30 p.m. at the Risman Plaza/Student Green in front of the Kent Student Center.
