Kent, OH - At 91²Ö¿â's School of Theatre and Dance, students involved in the organization , a hub for new student-made productions, took the stage in Edinburgh, Scotland during . This Scottish festival is one of the world's largest art's festivals and acts as a springboard for many new and theatrical works, providing 91²Ö¿â students with international exposure and connections abroad.
Every year, Transforum Theatre works with students to create a piece of devised theatre which travels to Scotland for a final performance. This year, students created an original play centering events leading up to May 4, 1970, an event at 91²Ö¿â in which Ohio National Guardsmen killed four students (Allison Krause, Jeffrey Miller, Sandra Lee Scheuer and William Knox Schroeder) and wounded nine during an anti-war protest.
Conceived and written by Transforum Theatre students, this original play went on to be performed in Scotland after rehearsal and preparation on the 91²Ö¿â campus the year prior. Students were joined by Amy Fritsche, Professor of Acting and Musical Theatre at 91²Ö¿â.
This performance abroad left the School of Theatre and Dance students with an unforgettable educational experience, from planning their own play's production, to performing in a globally recognized festival. Students also shared an important piece of 91²Ö¿â history with the world during their Scotland performance, continuing the legacy of storytelling surrounding May 4, 1970.

Transforum Theatre is an incubator for new works within the 91²Ö¿â’s School of Theatre and Dance. Our mission is to provide students with opportunities to transform their ideas into reality while bringing new stories to 91²Ö¿â stages as well as to international ones.
Every two years, Transforum Theatre works with students to create a piece of devised theatre which travels to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland, the world’s largest arts festival and a springboard for many new theatrical and artistic works.
During the school year, Transforum Theatre hosts a workshop series which brings guest speakers to Kent who will run workshops focusing on elements of the creative process that can often be glossed over, but are indispensable when creating new works. These workshops will hopefully touch on topics like: playwriting, marketing for theatre, devised theatre, improv and more. Transforum Theatre also assists in the production of new student works in the School of Theatre and Dance’s Black Box Series.
