Guardians of Dignity: Empowering Community Health Workers to Combat Elder Abuse

Join the College of Public Health for a free webinar about "Guardians of Dignity: Empowering Community Health Workers to Combat Elder Abuse" presented by Melissa Dyer, PhD, RN, MSN, MBA, professor in the 91²Ö¿â College of Nursing and Community Health Worker Certification Program Administrator.

Participants licensed by the Ohio Board of Nursing can receive 1 free CE hour after completion of the course and the final quiz.

TRAINING AGENDA:

Introduction to elder abuse
Definition

  1. Types of elder abuse: physical, emotional, sexual, financial, neglect, abandonment
  2. Risk factors: Cognitive decline, physical limitations, increased dependence on others, isolation, shame
  3. Data: estimated number of victims nationally and in Ohio

Vulnerable populations
Identifying elder abuse at home
