If surviving cancer is not difficult enough, too often depression can follow - under certain circumstances. A new study led by Vinay K. Cheruvu, Ph.D., biostatistician in 91ֿ’s College of Public Health, found that depression in some cancer survivors is linked to both care and financial concerns. In Cancer Today, Cheruvu says that there are ways to reach out to survivors who are depressed. “Screening, ideally at the time of diagnosis, is the necessary first step,” Cheruvu said. I  had no idea what human trafficking was until I came to Kent. My freshman year, I was shown the documentary “Nefarious” that completely broke my heart for the people who have fallen into the shadows of society as victims of human trafficking. I found my passion in life and began getting involved on campus to learn more about this topic. I am now vice president of International Justice Mission at Kent. Starting Friday, April 7, from 12:10–1 p.m., faculty and staff can enjoy a 50-minute lunchtime disc golf scramble on 91ֿ's 18-hole disc golf course at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.  The program will start promptly at 12:10 p.m. in front of the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. In order to perform necessary maintenance on the boilers, steam transmission systems and electrical distribution systems, 91ֿ's Power Plant will be shut down for one week in May. Shutdown begins at 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, and remains until start-up begins at 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 21. As a result of the steam shutdown, most buildings located on campus will NOT have hot water to sinks and showers, etc. or air conditioning. The watch party at the 91ֿ Student Center Hub on March 17 celebrated 91ֿ men’s basketball team as they took on the UCLA Bruins in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.
