When Sydney Brown was selected to represent 91ֿ Student Media on the 2025 Homecoming Court, it came as no surprise to those who know her. Known for her professionalism, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm for the 91ֿ community, Sydney exemplifies the kind of student who brings people together and celebrates what makes the university special.
Homecoming Court members are chosen through a competitive process that includes applications, interviews, and campus involvement reviews. Each year, the court represents students who embody 91ֿ’s values of leadership, service, and school spirit. Sydney’s selection highlights her dedication to her peers and her ability to connect with others through kindness, curiosity, and creativity.
“It’s truly an unmatched feeling to have so many of your peers cheer you on, and that’s exactly what this week feels like, representing 91ֿ Student Media on Homecoming Court,” Sydney shared. “Creatives and journalists are always people I’ve admired, so it’s a privilege to represent so many talented media makers at 91ֿ on this scale. I am really proud to share all the great work being done across all our student-run media platforms, underscoring our ‘by students, for students’ content. Being a part of The College of Communication and Information’s student media programs is why the college experience is full of great people, opportunities and excitement.”
True to form, Sydney spent Homecoming morning not waving from a parade float, but behind the microphone, doing what she loves most. Alongside her KSTV newsroom peer Anthony Leonardi, she co-hosted the live broadcast of the 91ֿ Homecoming Parade, ensuring students, alumni, and families could experience the event from wherever they were. Her absence from the parade was fitting; she was busy capturing the excitement, telling stories, and amplifying the voices of others, just as she does every day.
Sydney’s time on Homecoming Court stands as a reflection of her character: someone who leads by example, lifts up her peers, and represents the spirit of 91ֿ with authenticity and pride. She reminds us that being a Golden Flash isn’t just about showing up; it’s about showing up for others.
