91�ֿ� Our Master’s in Spanish Translation

The Master of Arts in Translation with a language specialization in Spanish is offered through 91�ֿ� within the Department of Modern and Classical Language Studies. The M.A. in Translation for Spanish is a 36-credit degree completed in two years on a full-time basis, or from three to six years on a part-time basis.

We take pride in not only our coursework, but also in our faculty. Our instructors have a wide range of expertise and language industry knowledge that help each student to receive personalized advice and support throughout their education. Our instructors take pride in their students’ success and will be there for you each step of the way.

Our translation degree is designed to be tailored to your specific language specialization, and provide training in translation, terminology management, Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools, website and software localization, and language project management. The program itself is available in two modalities: on campus and 100% online asynchronous.

We offer both options in order to give opportunities to students who want a campus experience, as well as to students who may be working full time and would like to have a flexible way to further advance their career from anywhere in the world. The online and on-campus programs have the same curriculum and coursework requirements and will help prepare students for their future careers.

Professor Washbourne has expertise in Spanish, interpreting, children’s biliteracy, and other areas. His projects at 91�ֿ� have included service missions to El Salvador, Guatemala, and Nicaragua, and he is working on various initiatives related to cosmopolitan competence, interculturality, and linguistic human rights.

Isabel Lacruz

Professor Lacruz has expertise in Spanish, Spanish translation, and translation studies. She conducts experimental research into the mental processes involved in translation, including post-editing of machine translated text.
